How does my landlord know my renters insurance is not cancelled?

My landlord requires me to purchase renters insurance before signing the lease. But how does my landlord know whether I will cancel my policy?

Most landlords require the tenants to add them to the renters insurance policies as an "interested party". When the landlords become the interested party, they will be notified when your policy expires or becomes canceled.
