I’m returning back to work after COVID, do I need to report to my car insurer about the average mile increase per week?

I've been working from home instead of commuting to work during the pandemic. I get to lower my auto insurance coverage because the mile I drive per week was at a very low point. Now I'm returning back to work and have to commute every day, do I have to notice my insurer about the change?

During COVID, you may not have had to drive as much if you worked from home. Let’s say you let your vehicle insurance expire or lowered your coverage to reflect the fact that you don’t drive to work every day. If this is the case, you should update your policy before starting to commute again. As you go back on the road, be sure you have proper insurance with the correct amount of coverage in place to protect yourself and your pocket. You may see the insurance rate increase, but it'll be less expensive than having a claim rejected and being on the hook for whatever occurs. Contact your insurance carrier if you're not sure what modifications are required.
